HollywoodNews.com: “The O.C.” star Rachel Bilson returns to television with the new show “Hart of Dixie” this fall on The CW. She plays a doctor who moves to practice in a small town. After a presentation to the Television Critics Association, Bilson stayed behind to answer a few questions about the new show, her fabulous home and fashion.
Q: Did doing movies make you appreciate the experience of doing TV when you came back?
RB: It’s interesting because I do feel the same way. Going from film, which is great, it’s like you establish these relationships and it’s more short lived and then you move on. With television it’s like you have a family and you’re there every day and you get to create and stay with this character for so long. There’s just a nice familiarity with it, just to be able to have that stability while doing that every day in and out was nice.
Q: How would you function in a small town?
RB: Me personally? I think I would do quite well. I’m pretty small. I can kind of fit in.
Q: Do you like that pace?
RB: I love that pace. I am a mellow person. I like to sleep, I like to rest. I would love to just hang my feet off a porch any day.
Q: How could you handle a doctor’s schedule?
RB: I feel like I have a doctor’s schedule a little bit. I am on call pretty much because I’m waking up at 5 in the morning every day and I have to report to work so it’s a little similar there, but I definitely don’t have to do what doctors do which is so admirable and remarkable. I just have to pretend I did it.
Q: How do you react to the sight of blood?
RB: I’m fine with blood, I’m fine with shots. I don’t really freak out about any stuff like that.
Q: Do you know what to do in a medical emergency?
RB: I can do a suture but I probably wouldn’t save you.
